Mathematical modelling and simulation methods are a cost-effective and quick way of gaining some leverage in the business world. These can be applied in, amongst other applications, improving the time to market for new products through the use of modelling in the product development process, optimising business and industrial processes, risk planning for emergent markets and predicting global climate change, etc. The Centre for Mathematical Modelling (MMC) supports a number of interdisciplinary projects linking mathematics with groups in engineering and the sciences. It has expertise in data mining, financial mathematics, nonequilibrium statistical physics, and many aspects of numerical mathematics and algorithms. MMC offers external clients consultations in mathematical modelling and numerical algorithms for various problems.
