The Network offers support in the following key areas:
- the development of premium/niche market products
- improvement of existing products to meet new consumer trends
- innovation in packaging
- chemical / microbiological analysis, e.g. shelf life enhancement
- improving skill levels
- development of Lean Manufacturing skills and techniques for employers e.g. fast changeover techniques, overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) improvement, waste and waste elimination and cost reduction, total productive maintenance
- the development of technical and engineering based skills in process and packaging automation e.g. systems control, checkweigher and metal detection, filling and depositing, modified atmosphere packaging technologies and associated automation
